What is rubber belt vulcanizing?
Conveyor belt splicing methods including Hot Vulcanizing, Cold Vulcanizing, Finger Splicing and Mechanical Splicing.
Hot vulcanizing is a method of use of heat, time and pressure to re-splice a Fabric or Steel Cord Rubber Belts. It is the most reliable conveyor belt repair method, as it creates the highest return to original belt strength. Vulcanization is the best and most dependable repair method for its speed and reliable return to original belt strength.
There are three kinds of conveyor belts namely:
1. Nylon Fabric Conveyor Belts
2. ST Steel Cord Conveyor Belts
3. Flame retardant PVC Whole Core Conveyor Belts or Solid Woven PVC Belts
All of them can use hot vulcanizing, and will be the best choices. Hot vulcanization splices are heated and cured under pressure with a vulcanizing press. Compare with cold vulcanizing method. Hot vulcanizing has a better of bond strength, but cold vulcanization does not use a press.
Conveyor belts take a significant amount of punishment throughout their lifespans. A splice is invaluable when it returns a damaged belt to original strength.
Other splicing methods, including cold vulcanizing and mechanical splicing, can manage a repair and are often faster than hot vulcanization. The tradeoff, however, is their bond strength is depleted because these processes don’t utilize heat and pressure.
Hot vulcanization splicing allows the belt to regain its former strength, offering reduced corrosion and increased life.
